2nd trimester, how time flies!
Today I had my four month appointment with my midwives. It's amazing how quickly this pregnancy is flying by. I heard a good, strong heartbeat, which is always reassuring. I've been feeling the little one move around every once in awhile since week 13, and that has been so amazing! It feels just like a gentle brush stroke from a paint brush, just on the inside of your belly instead of the outside :)
Babygirl was there and got to listen to "the baby in her belly" as well. While I think she understands there really isn't a baby in her belly, she still talks about how mommy's belly will get bigger and bigger and bigger, and says hers will too. We're trying to give her some sense of the timing of this, by saying she'll have her birthday and warm weather, then the weather will get colder and we'll have Halloween, then the baby will come. Seems to help her!
So now just four short weeks until we see the little tyke and hopefully know if we're getting a little brother or a little sister!

Yay, congrats! I love hearing the heartbeat. :) Some follow-up reading to "Business of Being Born": Pushed by Jennifer Block and Born in the USA by Marsden Wagner. My midwives had these in their lending library. I read them during my pregnancy with Maia. There are some horrible stories of medical births gone wrong, so it might not be the best read while you're pregnant, but I acatually found it affirming knowing that that wasn't where we were headed...(there are also plenty of stories of homebirths). The hospital they talk about in Pushed (St. Barnabas) is where we would have ended up (GULP!) if we hadn't been interested in natural births with the midwives we found.
